Finding the distance between the upstream / downstream boundaries

Measure velocity by dropping your floating object upstream of the top flag and timing how long it takes to float the entire length (the distance from the upstream to the downstream boundaries). Take the measurement a minimum of 3 times from different locations across the river. Again we are trying to get a good representation of the velocity, so find the average time. And then divide the distance from the upstream to downstream boundaries by the time to find the velocity.
